
Brief summary of current areas of research: Presently am working on the three following aspects of molecular markers and the mining of molecular markers in next generation sequencing data. 1.Development of SCAR Markers: Here mainly focus on development of SCAR markers either from RAPDs or from SRAPs polymorphism. Presently 23 SCAR markers are developed in Ridge gourd related to Downey mildew resistance, 11 SCAR markers are developed in eggplant related to Ralostonia wilt resistance,6 SCAR markers are developed in citrus rootstocks validation and validated successfully and patent filing under process. 2.Validation of Available trait linked functional markers: Here, public available trait linked functional molecular markers used in main stream crop breeding programme. we are successful in validation of powdery mildew resistance linked SCAR /SSR markers in pea, mitochondrial gene specific primers linked to male sterility trait in carrot, Fusarium linked CAPs markers in watermelon and rust resistance molecular markers in French bean. 3. Construction of linkage maps Here , main focus on development of linkage maps to Ralstonia resistance wilt in eggplant, Fusarium wilt resistance in watermelon and mining of EST-SSR , Genomic SSR, SNPs from sequencing data set in most of the horticultural crops by using various bioinformatic tools
