Yoga is an age-old practice with numerous benefits to both physical and mental well-being. Each yogic activity is a key to improving flexibility, strength, balance and attaining harmony. Under the current COVID - 19 pandemic situations, the benefits offered by yogic practices have become cardinal in managing comorbid conditions of the pandemic, by improving general health and immunity.
International Day of Yoga 2021 (IDY 2021) is celebrated on Monday, 21st June, 2021, across the world, on the theme ‘Be with Yoga, Be at Home!” Considering the risk of Covid-19, IDY 2021 was observed in a non - congregative manner. At ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, awareness was created among staff and their family members on celebration of IDY on 21st June, 2021 through organizational emails and WhatsApp messages. The staff members along with their family were sensitized to join thousands of others on this day from the safety of their homes by performing the 45 - minute long Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) drill at 7.00 am on 21st June 2021. ICAR-IIHR staff and their family members enthusiastically participated in the celebrations by performing the Common Yoga Protocol which was broadcasted on various television channels. Around 100 staff and 400 family members attended the CYP session and got benefited
