Dr. Kalayya Krishnamurthy National Award for Best Agricultural Research

Dr. A. T. Sadashiva Principal Scientist and Head, division of Vegetable Crops is conferred with prestigious Dr. Kalayya Krishnamurthy National Award for Best Agricultural Research 2014 – 15by UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru.

University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru conferred Dr.  A. T. Sadashiva, Principal Scientist and Head, division of Vegetable Crops, ICAR, IIHR, Bangalore,  with Dr. Kalayya Krishnamurthy National Award for Best Agricultural Research 2014 – 15. The award was presented to Dr Sadashiva on the occasion of 50th foundation day of UAS, Bengaluru organized at GKVK on 09.10.2015 (see the picture). Citation mentioning his contribution to the vegetable science in India and also a cash reward of Rs. 25,000 was presented to him during the occasion.
 
Dr. Kalayya Krishnamurthy National Award was open to all the persons working in any Agricultural University or Government Department or Private or Public Institutions in India whose research or adoption of the New Technology generated thereof during 10 years preceding the date of this notification has resulted in enhanced Agricultural production and economic well being of farmers.
 
Dr. A. T. Sadashiva received the award based on his contribution to Vegetable Science. He has served as Principal Investigator in several National and International funded projects. As a researcher he is involved in the development of several varieties/F1 hybrids in Tomato Brinjal and Chilli. Recently released Arka Rakshak and Arka Samrat with triple disease resistance to ToLCV, Bacterial Wilt and Early Blight have made significant  impact in the country. Arka rakshak has given a record yield of 190 tonnes per hectare under  open cultivation in Karnantaka. He has guided many MSc and PhD students and published a good number of research articles in refereed journals. He is a recipient of Dr. Kirti Singh Life Time Achievement Award in Vegetable Science - 2014 (ISVS) and Dr. Kirti Singh Gold Medal – 2014 (HSI).
