A campaign on water harvesting and recycling was organized at the Institute farm on 21st December, 2020. All the scientific, technical, supporting and contractual staff of the Division of Fruit Crops participated in the programme. Dr. B.L.Manjunath, Principal Scientist of the Division highlighted the importance of the planting different kinds of fruit plants for recycling of waste water . Further, Dr. P.C. Tripathi, Head i/c, Division of Fruit Crops, spoken on the importance of swachhata programme and tree planting. Dr. P.Nandeesha, Nodal officer, Swachha Bharat Mission also highlighted on the importance of the Swachha Bharat Mission progamme. Later, saplings of banana, papaya and sapota were planted on the occasion. Later, a live demonstration of water harvesting and recycling was shown to the participants to sensitize the topic. The PG students of the Division also participated in the programme.
CHES, Chettalli: Sanitation and cleanliness drive around the staff quarters and residential area of ICAR-IIHR-Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES), Chettalli was carried out on today’s Swachhta Pakhwada 2020 programme involving all scientists, technicians, skilled supporting staff and few contractual labours of the station. Awareness among the resident was also created for proper handling, storage and disposal of wastes. Further it was suggested to wear masks, frequent hand washing and sanitization, and maintenance of social distancing to avoid Corona infection. All the staff involved in the cleanliness drive very actively and made the residential area very neat and clean and this was become an act of encouragement and motivation to the resident.
