Online training for Technical staff of ICAR on the topic “Skill developments in maintaining Soil health, Plant Health for better crop ecosystems” from 21st to 23rd January, 2021 (3 Days)

HRD cell of ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru organized an online training for Technical staff of ICAR on the topic “Skill developments in maintaining Soil health, Plant Health for better crop ecosystems” from 21st  to 23rd  January, 2021 (3 Days).

One hundred and twenty five technical staff participated in this national training representing different subject matter divisions of ICAR viz., Crop Sciences, Horticulture Sciences, Animal Sciences and SAUs representing 40 institutes.     First day inaugural programme started at 10 am on 21/1/2021.  Dr. T.N. Shivananda, Nodal Officer, HRD Cell welcomed the participants, resource persons and Dr.M.R. Dinesh, Director inaugurated the training programme.   Participants from IIHR headquarters attended the training physically, whereas  other participated online through Zoom.

•Age wise participants: Around 42 per cent participants are from 30-40 years age group followed by 22.8 per cent representing 50-60 years age group.   17.5 per cent each of 20-30 years group and 40-50 years age group.  

•Category wise participation :  Among the participants,  22 per cent are Technical Assistants, 21 % are Technical Officers, 19.5 % are Technicians and 14.4 per cent are Assistant Technical Officers and  85 per cent are males and 15 per cent are females.

•Topics covered under soil and plant health related viz., soil sampling for nutrient analyses, plant sampling for nutrient analysis,  conservations of soil and water, interpretation of soil health card, ameliorants to problematic soils, heavy metal contamination.  Under protection, topics covered are safe handling of pesticides, pesticide residues and waiting periods, botanicals, commonly used pesticides and recently banned pesticides, biointensive management of nematodes.  Other common topics  included , protected cultivation of vegetables,  essentials of plant health and soil health for better living of human beings, conservation of biodiversity, mushroom as food supplements, role of kitchen garden in enhancing family health, Seed Portal of IIHR etc.  Participants expressed their happiness about the coverage of various diversified but very useful topics

•During the valedictory session on 23rd January 2021, Dr. M. R. Dinesh, Director, ICAR-IIHR in his presidential address,    expressed the importance of training  for everyone and suggested the participants to get benefitted from the training and  to help the farmers also.  

•The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. V. Sridhar.
