Day four of the NHF2021 commemorated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and had all proceedings with more women panelists, subject matter specialists and moderators. The session I of this day covered was for Zone 7, comprising the states of North East (Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagalandand & Tripura) and all the KVKs of the Zones. All were connected with the session and had opportunity of hearing the solutions of the problems of their zone in various horticultural crops. During the session, a women farmer Smt. Pangeijan Bijaya Devi from Manipur, and a farmer from Tripura, Shri. Subash Shil Sarma were awarded as Best Farmer for adopting and popularising the IIHR varieties and technologies in their respective zones. The uniqueness of this session was that the youngest scientist of the ICAR-IIHR, Ms. Anushma chaired season and conducted the proceedings. The moderators who had worked and are working with the North Eastern States meticulously moderated the session.
The second session of the day was for Zone 8 (Maharashtra, Gujarat & Goa) and it also had all the women moderators. Then Moderators connected with the farmers in their regional language and had provided the answers to all the questions submitted by various KVKs of the zones. The third session was for Zone 9 (Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh). In all the sessions, the scientists from various ICAR institutes had shared the information related to the varieties and plant protection measures.
