Large scale production of Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on finger millet
Application / Use: For use as VAM inoculum in crop nursery and in filed crops. Benefits derived are improvement in plant growth, soil fertility, reduction in inorganic dose of fertilizers.
Input Needed: on-farm development. Raw material soil:sand mixture or soil rite , starter culture, finger millet (Ragi –Eleusine coracana)
Output Capacity: 3 to 4 tons of inoculum per 5 meter square area
Specific Benefits: Improvement in soil fertility, Plant growth. Phosphorus availability will be more
Unit Cost: Rs 3/kg of VAM produced. If we use soilrite :cocopeat mixture cost will be Rs 15/kg
Description: It is soil based inoculum. VAM fungi is multiplied on finger millet root and soil the spores of the fungus along with the colonized roots are harvested and used as inoculum.
