Central Horticultural Experiment Station (ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar organized one-day capacity building training programme

Central Horticultural Experiment Station, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bhubaneswar conducted one-day capacity building training programme on “Value addition in horticultural crops” on 12th April 2022 in collaboration with Society for promotion of Horticulture and Ananya, a NGO working for the benefit of the farming community. The inaugural programme was graced by DR M Nedunchezhiyan, Head, ICAR-CTCRIRC Bhubaneswar, Sri Sukanta Panigrahi, Founder & Executive Officer, Ananya; Dr G C Acharya, Head IC, CHES, ICAR-IIHR Bhubaneswar, Sri Amreswar Mishra, retired Joint Director (Agril) and Technical Advisor, Ananya and Dr Manas R Sahoo, PS and Nodal officer, ToT, CHES, IIHR Bhubaneswar. Around 50 participants including FPO representatives, Women Self Help Groups and farmers attended the one-day training programme. In the training programme, awareness on benefit of value addition, value addition in fruits, vegetables and tuber crops were imparted. A visit to grading, sorting, packing, ripening, hot water treatment unit of fruits was arranged and practical on minimal processing of jackfruit were also conducted during the programme. Dr DR M Nedunchezhiyan, Head, ICAR-CTCRIRC Bhubaneswar, Dr P Srinivas, PS, Dr Kundan Kishore, PS and Dr Manas R Sahoo, PS were acted as resources persons during the programme. The programme was co-ordinated by DR G C Acharya, PS & Head IC and co-coordinated by DR Manas R Sahoo. Sri Manoj K Pattanayak, Sri B C Patra, Sri C S Durga, Sri A Ghosh (technical staffs) assisted for smooth conduct of the programme
