As per the Action Plan for Swachhta Pakhwada during 16-31 Dec, 2021 of ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru, the Division of Social Sciences and Training and Swachhta Committee members took an initiative to conduct Extempore Speech competition as well as an Essay Writing competition on the topic: “Swachh Bharath Abhiyan: Community Health in Our Hands” at Government PU College, Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru North, on 27/12/2021., to create awareness on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan among students as well to encourage them to participate in the competition and to make understand their role in community health management. The competition was conducted by Dr. Ramya H. R and Dr. Naresh, Scientists from ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru and Smt. Shaila from Government PU College, Hesaraghatta, Bengaluru. Upon completion of the competition, Dr. Ramya H. R and Dr. Naresh explained the importance of cleanliness in and around their college and villages, also enlightened on the importance of community health to fight against any pandemics. Also distribution of Sanitizers and other safety-related products was done as a mark of creating awareness on cleanliness on behalf of ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru. The Winners of the Extempore Speech competition were: First place: Sindhushree (II PUC Commerce), Second: Abhishek V (I PUC Commerce), Third: Arun (II PUC Arts) and Fourth: Kusuma (I PUC PCMB); and that of Essay writing competition were: First place: Spandana C (I P.U.C PCMB), Second: Hajira Noorain (I P.U.C PCMB), Third: Abhishek V (I P.U.C Commerce) and Fourth: Sandhya H P (II P.U.C Commerce).
