Planting material display and Sales Unit of ICAR-IIHR was inaugurated on 7.10.2021 by Mrs. C.P.A. Iyer in memory of late Dr. C.P.A. Iyer, Ex-Head, Division of Fruit Crops. In the inaugural address, Mrs. Iyer mentioned that Dr. C.P.A. Iyer had commitment towards ICAR-IIHR and it was a home for him away from home. Dr. B.N.S. Murthy, Director (A) briefed about the importance of planting material of horticultural crops in the country. He mentioned that the construction of planting material display and Sales Unit will help the farmers, visitors in getting the quality planting material. Dr. M.R. Dinesh, Former Director, ICAR-IIHR expressed that fruit crop varieties of ICAR-IIHR are cultivated in lakhs of acres and mentioned that Dr. C.P.A. Iyer made remarkable contribution and achievements in mango and papaya. He also opined that IIHR model nursery was inaugurated today in memory of Dr. C.P.A. Iyer.
Dr. T.S. Aghora, Incharge, PME Cell welcomed the gathering and Dr. G. Karunakaran, Principal Scientist briefed about the planting material and Display Unit. Guests of honour, Mr. Sundar Iyer, Mrs. Sandhya Giridhar and Mr. Giridhar spoke about late Dr. C.P.A. Iyer’s interest in horticulture and the planting material Display and Sales Unit is a befitting tribute to late Dr. C.P.A. Iyer.
