Hon’ble Agriculture Minister, Government of Bihar, Dr. Premkumarji and Agriculture Research Officer and PRO to Minister, Mr. Ramesh Kumar visited ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru on 01.01.2020. The Hon’ble Agriculture Minister was received by the Director, Dr. M.R. Dinesh and was briefed about various research and development activities of ICAR-IIHR. The Hon’ble Minister visited fields of LCV resistant chilli hybrids, guava (Arka Poorna), dragon fruit, floriculture and vegetable demonstration plots. He visited ATIC / Food Safety Referral Lab / Mushroom Lab / Vegetable Vending Van. Later, he addressed the scientists and appreciated the research and developmental activities taken up by the institute. He congratulated the Director and Scientists for their tireless efforts in developing the high yielding varieties and technologies for the benefit of farming community. He made a special emphasis on organic farming and mentioned that integrated farming system including fisheries, dairy, apiary, floriculture, vermicompost, bio-pesticides, etc. The Hon’ble Minister also informed that the institute is the centre for training various officials of State Horticulture Departments and also farmers. He also expressed the view that Horticulture Officer and farmers of Bihar should be trained at ICAR-IIHR. The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Anil Kumar Nair.
