A capacity building programme on “Vegetable Production Technologies” for farmers of Rythamithra Farmer Producer Company Ltd., was organized under RKVY project at Raithamithra FPO, Mysore on 23.06.2022. Mr. Devaraju, Secretary of the FPO, delivered the welcome address. Mr. Yogesh, AHO, Horticulture Dept, Mysore spoke about the Government programmes and interventions. He also mentioned in his speech to reduce the use of chemicals and maintain the fertility of soil. Dr. R. Venkattakumar, Head, Division of Social sciences and Training informed the gathering about RKVY project and its importance. Dr. B Narayanswamy, Principal Scientist, Division of Social sciences and Training delivered a speech in which he emphasised the benefit of such training programmes to the farmers. He encouraged the to utilise the technologies developed by ICAR-IIHR. Mr. Kuruburu Shantakumar, President of Raithamithra Farmer Producer Company Ltd. In his presidential address, informed the gathering to switch to organic farming and called for reduction of usage of chemicals which is degrading the health of soil. Dr. B. Narayanswamy had a training session with the gathered farmers about the usage of neem soap, pongamia soap, Arka microbial consortium, vegetable special and banana special. At the end, the farmers interacted with scientists and got cleared all the doubts. Mr. Nagarajamurthy, Director of the FPO, proposed vote of thanks to the gathering. This programme was attended by more than 50 farmer members of Raithamithra Farmer Producer Company Ltd, Mysore.
Simultaneously, IIHR inputs like neem soap, pongamia soap, Arka microbial consortium, vegetable special and banana special were distributed to the member farmers of Raithamithra Farmer Producer Company Ltd, Mysore. The whole programme was coordinated by Dr. B. Narayanswamy and Dr.R. Venkattakumar of Division of Social Sciences and Training ,ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore.
