11th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting of KVK, Hirehalli, Tumakuru

The 11th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting of KVK, Hirehalli, Tumakuru was conducted on 28th January 2022 (Friday) at 10.30 AM at KVK campus. The SAC meetings are conducted to get necessary guidance and support to carry out the mandated activities of KVK in a more planned and scientific manner. Due to Covid situation, this year SAC meeting was conducted in online mode.  The KVK has constituted the Scientific Advisory Committee as per the guidelines of ICAR which comprises of representatives from ICAR institutes, State Agriculture University, Development departments of the District, Media personnel, Financial institutions and progressive farmers and farm women. Meeting was organised to discuss the progress made in 2021 and action plan for the ensuing year. The programme started with ICAR, IIHR Song and Raita Geete. The meeting was inaugurated online by Dr. B.N.S. Murthy, Honourable Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru. The Director has highlighted the achievements of the KVK and motivated the scientists to work with zeal. Dr.Loganandhan,N., Head, presented Progress Report of 2021 & Action Plan for the year 2022-23. Progress made in OFTs, FLDs, Capacity development and other extension activities were shared. Proposed action plan and KVK deliverables for the forthcoming year was also presented by him. Dr. N. Devakumar, Honourable Director of Extension Education, UAS, Bengaluru, during his speech, indicated the action points to be taken up by the KVK scientists and appreciated the activities of the KVK during last year. His recommendations were on compiling the soil test reports, addressing pests problems in mulberry and tomato etc. Dr.Mallikarjun B.Hanji, Nodal Officer, ICAR-ATARI, Benglauru, did highlighted measures to improve the working of the KVK in ODOP concept, support of FPOs and farm mechanisation. The event was attended by all the members of SAC, comprising officials of State Departments, other Invitees from Government Institutes, NGOs, FPOs, banks, KVK Heads and farmers. All the suggestions from the participants were noted down for the action to be initiated in the coming year. The Programme compering was done by Shri K.N.Jagadish and Shri. P.R.Ramesh gave vote of thanks. About 58 members, in total, took part in the event.
