ICAR-IIHR organized Off-campus training and Input distribution for the farmers of Puducherry State under SCSP Project

A special two day (17 and 18thFebruary,2022) off-campus Training programme on ICAR-IIHRTechnologies was organized by ICAR-IIHR, Bengalorefor the beneficiaries from SCSP Projectat Botanical garden,Puducherry state. The objective of the programme was to create awareness about recent ICAR-IIHR technologies and alsoICAR-IIHR  input distribution to the beneficiaries of SCSP project.The programme started with welcome address by Mr.N.K.Shanmugavelu,Deputy Director of Horticulture followed by Chief guest address delivered by Mr.C.Shivaraman, Additional Director of Horticulture, Govt. of Puducherry, Botanical Garden, Puducherry.Afterwards technical session was started with presentation on ICAR-IIHR fruit crop technologies by Dr.R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientistfollowed by ICAR-IIHR vegetable varieties/hybrids and crop technologies suitable for Puducherry state delivered  by Dr.V.Sankar, Principal Scientist. At the end of technical session, ICAR-IIHR developed vegetable varieties like Amaranthus (Arka Suguna), Chilli(Arka Meghna), Dolichos (ArkaSambhram), Palak (Arka Anupama), Ridge gourd (Arka Vikram), Water melon (ArkaShyama), Musk melon (ArkaSiri) and Mucuna (ArkaSubra) and guava rooted cuttings (Arka Kiran) were distributed to the 40 beneficiaries of Puducherry state. The same programme was conducted in Bagour and Pillyarkuppam villages of Puducherry  state also  with help of Department of Agriculture and farmers welfare. All these programs were coordinated and attended by officials of Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare,Puducherry state @ Mr.C.Shivaraman, Additional Director of Horticulture,Mr.Shanmugavelu, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Mr.Dhinesh, Agriculture officer, Mrs Priyadarshini, Agriculture officer, Mrs Valarmathi, Agricultural officer and Mr.Sankaradas, Agricultural officers of concern blocks.This  whole training programme  and distribution was coordinated by Dr. R. Senthil Kumar and V.Sankar Principal Scientist,  Division of Social Sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR, Bangalore and Dr.G.Senthil Kumaran, Principal scientist, Division of Post-Harvest and Agricultural Engineering. All these programmes were attended by 80beneficiaries  including 10 officials from Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Puducherry.
