Biochemical and molecular studies in relation to seed quality assurance in horticultural crops (Ongoing)

Primary tabs

11.4.3

Objective:

  1. To standardise protocols for genetic purity testing of vegetable hybrids
  2. To enhance seed quality through seed priming and identifying the reasons at Biochemical /molecular level
  3. To isolate, identify and characterize proteins/genes related to seed viability and   vigour
  4. To study the role of seed priming under adverse soil conditions

Achievements:

  • Protocols were developed to enhance seed germination of less viable vegetables seeds through seed priming process
  • Identified biochemical and molecular reasons for loss in viability during storage in various horticultural crops
  • Standardized protocols for testing genetic purity of Chilli hybrid Arka Meghana
