Activities during Lock-down period – ICAR KVK, Hirehalli, Tumakuru

As per the instruction from the Director, it has been decided to open the office for three days in a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday – from 10 AM to 1 PM) form 15th April 2020 onwards, after the completion of the first phase of nationwide lock down. Given below are the activities carried out during this period till today.

A message was given in the local press about this information. Farmers started calling about the materials available. On 13th April, stock of items available was noted down. Accordingly information was shared to the farmers. Farmers were advised to come with wearing masks and to use maintain social distancing while buying the products. Sanitizers was also kept in the appropriate places for their uses. Local police was informed about the activities for any help, if needed.

Given below are the details products sold during this phase from KVK and farmers benefitted.

In total, 21 farmers got benefitted during this period by procuring the above products.

Apart from this Agro advisories were provided for two months (April and May) to the farmers (approximately 1.5 lakhs farmer) through ATARI and State Department.

Message on Arogya Sethu App was widely shared in the farmers’ group and messages.

Office vehicle was provided for Covid-19 monitoring team officers’ use for 15 days during the lock down period.

On 21st Apr, Pre-action plan meeting was attended by three KVKs at KVK, Hassan, by maintaining social distance. Wherein, action plan for the coming year KVK activities was presented and got approved.

Each SMs including me are attending minimum 5 call every day during this period, amounting to total 500 farmers so far got benefitted with regard to crop management, procurement of inputs, marketing related information.

A Radio programme – Namma Halli Radio – was launched during the period by Red cross society. For that programme, we have given voice message on the crop management practices during this phase. This message was broadcast to farmers in rural area.

Farm activities like grafting and maintenance was taken care during the period, with limited staff.

Newspaper coverage on healthy habits like eating more number of vegetables and fruits were done, in order to improve the immunity power of citizens.
